Amber Chia, a well known Internationally known Malaysian celebrity supermodel; also, an eight months pregnant mama-soon-to-be, has just launched her very own modeling and makeup academy at Jaya One. It has never been easy on her to prepare for the academy launching while carrying an eight-months-old baby boy in her uterus. I have been chatting with her almost every night before the launch, just to keep her companied; she has been working her arse off till almost 2 o'clock in the morning just for this special one day --- August 10th, 2010.
"Once a model, forever a model!"
I have to fully agree with this quotation.
Amber Chia stepped into the field of entertainment in modeling when she was 17. And now, look at her! She is starting a modeling academy to scout for more potential talented local models and with the hope of shaping them into a better internationally known supermodel in the future, just like Amber.
This one and only stepping stone towards one's modeling fantasy is located at Jaya One, Petaling Jaya. Do drop by to pay them a visit. The academy's open day is on the August 14th and 15th, 2010; starting from 10am till 4pm.

Founder and Principal of Amber Chia Academy, Amber Chia said at the Press Conference, "This is truly an important day for Amber Chia Academy as not only are we launching a new academy, we are introducing a new concept to the public. Amber Chia Academy aims to share a wealth of experience and knowledge in an upbeat and creative style that will transform the way models model, and reinvent the way makeup artists makeup."
She then added, "There is a fine art in modeling and makeup, it is the ability each of us has within ourselves to express art-form in an individualistic style. Amber Chia Academy strives to enhance this ability into a creative outlet that will bring a wave of new style and beauty creators to the world."
Also present at the Press Conference was Benjamin Toong, co-founder of the academy who is best known in the local scene as the 'catwalk guru'. Benjamin said, "A successful model is one who has mastered the art of modeling both physically and mentally. Amber Chia Academy will assist you to excel in both the physical and mental elements as a model. Physically, we will train you, groom you, and mould you into the most presentable form of YOU. Mentally, we will coach you, exercise you, and discipline you into the best YOU, that you can ever be."
To those who are lack of height but wish to becoming a model, don't be discouraged by your height. According to Amber, Benjamin, Desmond, as well as Dato Jimmy Choo it takes more than just the height to become a successful model.
"Look at Carmen Soo, she does not have the height but she has an appealing look; and everyone loves it!" said Amber.
"They can be multitalented models for commercials, and magazines." Benjamin added "We have special course for them, it is called modeling image."
According to Amber's note, even prior to it's official opening, Amber Chia Academy has already garnered over 50 students registrations from pure word-of-mouth and making the rounds in social networking websites. The numbers are expected to increase after the launch, especially with the support of the people. The modeling course fees range from 1,688MYR to 3,888MYR; and on the other hand, the makeup course fee begins at 699MYR.
Amber promised that the academy will sponsor the best three models in the academy to go to New York, transportation fees as well as several types of expenses will be taken care by the academy. Even though not all students will be given this kind of privilege, Amber promised that the students will be guaranteed some kind of supports to finding their ways in the modeling world upon the course completion. However, this support will only apply on the students who take up modeling courses.
"Their model profile and search agents within Malaysia will be given to them." said Amber.
Dato Jimmy Choo, Dato Anna Lim, Daphne Iking, Dennis Lau, Gillian Hung, Ning Baizura, Daniel Tan, Jojo Goh, Kelly Jagan, and Sam were all spotted by K during the academy opening. Not only that, K spotted Joyce a.k.a. kinkybluefairy --- one of the celebrity bloggers at the event, too!
"So, you came all the way from Singapore just to attend Amber's opening?" K said. "Err...? I am Malaysian. Since when I became a Singaporean? LOL!" Joyce replied.
It was embarrassing, I thought she was from Singapore all these while. :(
